You have reached the website for the Transgender Care in Family Planing Clinics Project (TransFPC).
This study explores the expansion of transgender or gender transition-related healthcare in family planning clinics in the United States. Transition-related care can include hormone replacement therapy or referrals to surgeons for surgical procedures, such as mastectomy or sex reassignment surgeries. This study investigates the historical and more recent trend of family planning clinics providing transition-related care alongside other healthcare including abortion, contraception, STI screening and/or routine physical exams.
The first part of our study, currently in dissemination, focused on experiences of staff members in clinics who had already added trans care. Results from this study were presented at the Abortion Care Network Conference in 2019 as well as the American Sociological Association and Pacific Sociological Association.
We are currently recruitment transgender and non-binary patients for the second arm of the study!
If you are:
– Over age 18
– Identify as transgender or non-binary
AND
– Have visited a family planning clinic for transition related or gender affirming care (such as HRT) in the last year
